Jadu — Founder Story
Inspired by a grandmother's love
When nothing was safe enough.

When Anna Asi's grandson was born with severe allergies, she turned to what her family had always known. Five generations of botanical recipes, refined over more than a century. She spent years working to bring that heritage to everyone - formulating a shampoo clean enough to trust, powerful enough to work.

"Our mission is your health, not our wealth."

The Science

Why it works

Genuinely sulfate-free

Most “sulfate-free” formulas substitute synthetic isethionates for SLS — a swap in name only. Jadu uses sugar-derived and coconut-derived cleansers that lift buildup without stripping color, curl pattern, or scalp moisture.

Softness from within, not coating

Pro-Vitamin B5 penetrates the hair shaft to hydrate and improve elasticity from the inside. No dimethicone film, no silicone buildup over time — just measurable softness and improved manageability from the first wash.

Bond support at the cleanse step

Low-molecular-weight wheat protein penetrates the cuticle to reinforce the hair shaft and reduce visible breakage — not in a separate treatment, but in the shampoo itself. A standard almost no formula in this category meets.

Premium clean. Pregnancy-safe.

Free of phthalates, parabens, formaldehyde-releasers, sulfates, and synthetic fragrance — a standard no premium shampoo brand currently occupies. Formulated to be safe across every stage: pregnancy, postpartum, and daily use beyond.

INSIDE THE FORMULA

The Highest Quality, Food-Grade

Our goal was to create the cleanest shampoo on the market. Plant-derived surfactants, whole botanicals, and food-grade proteins, slow-infused in small batches to work from root to tip.

Plant Surfactant Complex

Glucose + fatty alcohol

Gently lifts dirt, oil, and buildup without stripping the cuticle — derived entirely from glucose and plant-based fatty alcohols.

+Cleanses without stripping or drying
+Preserves cuticle integrity wash after wash
+Truly plant-derived, not synthetic-swap
Why it mattersMost “sulfate-free” shampoos swap in synthetic betaines, these are genuinely plant-sourced.

Amphoteric Co-Surfactants

Coconut + sugar beet–derived

Coconut and sugar beet–derived co-surfactants that boost foam and condition while cleansing — reducing irritation potential at every wash.

+Boosts lather without harsh anionic agents
+Conditions hair during the cleanse step
+Gentle on color-treated + textured hair
Why it mattersReplaces anionic foam boosters that strip color and dry out textured hair.

Whole Lavender Extract

Lead ingredient after water

Whole-botanical lavender — the lead ingredient after water — calms and balances the scalp while delivering natural, lasting fragrance.

+Calms and balances the scalp
+Naturally aromatic — no synthetic parfum
+Scent carried through the botanical itself
Why it mattersMost clean shampoos still list “parfum.” Jadu carries scent through the botanical itself.

Plant-Derived Provitamin

Panthenol (Pro-Vitamin B5)

Penetrates the hair shaft to hydrate from within — improving elasticity and softness noticeably on the very first wash.

+Hydrates from inside the hair strand
+Improves elasticity and reduces breakage
+Softness from wash one, not buildup
Why it mattersMost clean shampoos rely on silicone for the “soft” feel. Panthenol delivers it from inside the strand.

How to use Jadu Shampoo

Revitalize

Safe for all hair types — color-treated, curly, chemically processed, fine, and thinning. Pregnancy-safe. Gentle enough for daily use.

  1. Wet thoroughly

Saturate hair and scalp with warm water before applying.

  2. Apply Shampoo & Lather

Apply a small amount of Jadu Shampmoo to the scalp. Emulsify with water, then work through lengths.

  3. Rinse completely

Rinse until water runs clear. A second wash produces fuller lather if needed.

  4. Follow with conditioner

Pair with Jadu Conditioner for full slip and bond care.

Plant-based surfactants lather less than sulfates — that is the trade-off for a genuinely cleaner formula.

FAQs

Genuinely sulfate-free. Our cleansers are Decyl Glucoside and C10-16 Alkyl Glucoside (sugar-derived) and Cocamidopropyl Betaine + Betaine (coconut + sugar beet–derived). No SLS. No SLES. No isethionate swaps. Read the full INCI on the back of the bottle.

Because there are no sulfates. Plant-based surfactants foam less — that's the trade-off for a cleaner formula. Use a small amount on a wet scalp, emulsify with water, then work through. A second wash gives a fuller lather if needed.

Is it safe for color-treated, highlighted, or bleached hair?

Yes. No silicones (so no buildup that requires harsh cleansers to remove), no sulfates, no drying alcohols. Pro-Vitamin B5 and glycerin support hydration, which textured hair needs most.

Yes. No phthalates, no parabens, no formaldehyde-releasers, no SLS/SLES, no synthetic fragrance. Always consult your OB/midwife for your specific situation.

Yes — vegan and Leaping Bunny certified. PETA cruelty-free. No animal-derived ingredients.

Yes. The hydrolyzed wheat protein is processed to be gluten-free at the molecular weight used.

We calculate the naturally derived percentage using the ISO 16128 method — a third-party international standard. The remaining percentage covers ingredients like preservatives where a fully natural alternative doesn't exist at performance parity. We don't say 100% because it wouldn't be true. We say what we can prove.

Olaplex owns the bond-repair conversation through a synthetic bond-building molecule. Jadu starts earlier — with what's in the bottle. Our cleansers are plant-derived. Our protein support is plant-derived. Same price tier, different standard.

Moroccanoil's market story is argan oil. Their shampoo formula still relies on conventional cosmetic chemistry. Jadu is plant-based at every step — surfactant, conditioning agent, scent, color.

Yes. The formula is gentle enough for daily use. Curly and coily hair may prefer every 2–3 days; fine and oily hair will tolerate daily.

Yes. Botanical surfactants are less prone to precipitating with hard water minerals than some synthetic alternatives. If you live in very hard water, follow with Jadu Conditioner for full slip.
